The Beauty of Modesty!
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety... (1 Timothy 2:9)
One thing I noticed abut Israelite sisters is that we do entirely too much when it come to our apparel and our attire. Amerikka has groomed us to dress like hoochies, slores (slut+whore=slore lol) and skanks. I only been in the truth for over a year, but I can say that before I got into this truth I thought some of our sisters looked crazy. Skirt hems barely reaching the cooch area, daisy dukes inspired by Patra, tight leggings and crop tops smh. Once you get older you realize how stupid these chicks look or even yourself if you followed that horrid trend. Getting into this truth you then realize that something is off about this type of attire and why...

The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God. (Deuteronomy 22:5)
I will admit, I didn't think my transition from pants to skirts and dresses would be easy. At one point all of my bottoms consisted of leggings; from leather ones, to ones with sheers insets and even fany prints. Through the spirit of The Most High in Christs, I gradually started purchasing more skirts and dresses and found ways to incorporate it into my warbrobe. Funny how when I was wearing pants my momma used to say "you need to buy some skirts" and now that I'm in skirts and dresses, my momma says" you need to buy some pants" lol. I struggled however, trying to find something cute and for my height. The more I got into the scriptures and as my fear of the LORD increased, the longer the hem of my dresses/skirts got. To put it quite simply, it happened, but it didn't happen overnight. So I had to let go of the liquid leggings.
Unfortunatley in our community, dressing modestly is like speaking Arabic. "Flaunting it" and "showing whatchu got" is considered the norm.
Most people think of old/aged women or Islam when they hear "modest apparel". But it doesn't have to be that way...at all. So how do we define "modest apprarel" anyway?

Unfortunately our sisters have a huge monopoly on dressing improper or lewd. You've seen all of the club pictures and the attention whoring photos on Facebook and other social media outlets. What is heartbreaking is that these same sisters are raising the little ones to follow suit. We need to put a stop to that and follow the commandments instead of following tacky trends. On the flipside,we'd follow Esau's dress codes at the job, or in school or in whatever setting they facilitate smh. So as repenting sisters we shouldn't be leaving the house looing like:

Besides, no one is going to take us seriously as repenting women. And you are only asking for unwanted attention.
Looking Fashionable While Applying the Commandments
Keep in mind that we don't have to look like frumpy vagabonds. As Israelites, we need to be proud of our heritage and have some sense of pride of who we are. That pride can reflect on our attire and how we carry ourselves. Incorporate your personal style and personality into your garments. If you still want to continue to shop at H&M, Zara, ASOS or other trendy stores, just keep in mind what the scriptures say. You will be surprise how many modest gems you are still able to find at these stores. Don't be afraid to be creative and use your talents either. Make your own skirts and dresses if you are able to or transform some of your old clothing. Start trends instead of following them! You'd be surprisd how beautiful and feminine you look while covered up :-)
